Labs and Facilities

The Chemical and Environmental Engineering Department is housed in the $41 million, 105,000 square-foot modern engineering complex, Bourns Hall. The building won an Honor Award for Architecture from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 1996. The Department occupies over 3,000 square feet of teaching lab space and more than 15,000 square feet of research lab space. In addition to campus-wide major facilities such as genomics centers and chemical analytical laboratory, the faculty research laboratories are equipped with extensive the state-of-the-art facilities for a variety of research in biomolecular, chemical, and environmental engineering.

The Department currently has 21 faculty members. In addition, there are three research faculty members associated with the program as well as several cooperating faculty members from other department. Many faculty members work in close association with the College of Engineering Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT) or the Center for Nanoscale Science & Engineering (CNSE).
